The Covid-19 pandemic entails strict regulations for ticket sellers – especially for indoor sports events. Sports clubs like the Gladiators Trier are currently facing restrained capacities. Government officials strictly control that distance regulations between visitors are met.
In order to satisfy these requirements, so far ticket sellers had to engage in time consuming manual processes, resulting in inefficient seating constellations and tedious workflows. An excemption from the distancing rules even complicated things: People from the same household are allowed to sit next to each other. Therefore the capacity strongly depends on the constellation of guests.
As the first European ticketing solution, vivenu introduced a smart social distancing seating algorithm, blocking a predefined number of seats on the left, right, in front, and behind when reserving seats in a transaction. This automatically guarantees that all Covid-19 specific spacing requirements are met. At the same time, fans can choose their favorite seats while enjoying each other's company (when belonging to the same household).
A study of simulated bookings compared the standard logic of blocking out certain seats and rows in advance to the utilization with vivenu's social distancing seating algorithm - both being fully compliant with the regulations. On average, the Gladiators Trier achieved a capacity increase of 116% allowing 640 more fans to enjoy professional basketball.
„Through vivenu’s seating algorithm we are able to save valuable time by improving our processes. We did generate crucial revenue during the pandemic, and gave our fans what they love the most, while guaranteeing everybody's safety. vivenu made sure the club and the fans get the most out of the current circumstances and proved to be the highly flexible and solution-driven partner.“ - Andre Ewertz, CEO @ Gladiators Trier.
